Hey technically we all made money on stadia. Bought the Cyberpunk 2077 bundle which came with a stadia kit with controller and chromecast 4k. For around $70-80 if memory serves me correct. Played it for a while and hated that the controller was wifi for direct stadia connection and only wired if I wanted to use it for anything else on my PC/phone. Sold the controller/chromecast bundle on ebay for $90. Continued to play Cyberpunk and Destiny2 over Stadia with mouse and keyboard until the service shutdown and Google refunded me for the original purchase.

> I warned people not to buy games on Stadia. I got a full refund for the Stadia games and hardware - which I got to keep (free 4k Chromecast and Bluetooth controller!). The shutdown of Stadia could not have been handled better - if Google handled all their other service sunsets like they did with Stadia, I'd be more inclined to take a risk with Google. Packing a controller and a Chromecast was the epitome of traveling light, and served me very well when I had to travel a lot for work. I could resume my games on hotel room TVs, or even on an underpowered laptop. Stadia's UX was frictionless - the couple of times I tried Nvidia's streaming, it felt a lot clunkier

As both a Stadia, and Steam Link+Controller user for years I can say this was/is not my experience. I'm able to play Steam link games (over my wired local network) without noticeable input lag, and Stadia (despite my crap Comcast connection) also ran decently. I also experimented with the Xbox streaming service and while usable at home, it was not usable on my LTE mobile connection. Stadia was just too early, and was up against giants like Sony, MS and Nintendo not to mention gaming brands like NVIDIA. Heck even Amazon is playing in this arena and I can't imagine Apple is far behind if they see it working elsewhere.

Happy user of Stadia here. Fit the dad gamer in off hours usecase perfectly. Spent enough on it that even the total refund felt like something. And now on top of that I own a controller to use with the GeForce Now embedded in my LG TV. Consumer galore.
