My favorite laptop is my Samsung Chromebook Plus (V1), released in early 2017. ARM based. Good battery life. Light. Touch screen. I replaced the battery and keeps running strong. Sure is 32 bit and Google disowned the OS long ago. It will be a sad day the day I let it go.

I stopped buying Chromebooks and switched to MacBooks after my fantastic Samsung Chromebook Plus ARM units stopped getting updates after a few years, around the same time the 10 year from release support commitment for new devices was made. Unfortunately Samsung no longer make Chromebooks, they had some fantastic hardware.

I have a samsung chromebook plus 32 bit ARM based and now it has plastered on the screen a message that says: "Security Updates Ended. Update your device" The message cannot be removed. If I click on it, opens chrome and sends me to the Google store (effing commercial). The laptop runs like a charm (I replaced the battery) with termux installed. It has a great touch interface with a stylus that will break If I try to install other OS on it. Google way to obsolete this things starts looking a lot like Apple. They want to kill their old devices with a thousand little cuts. I just want to remove the goddam message and for Google to leave me alone. Good luck with that.

This is a big relief. I have a Samsung Chromebook Plus that still works fine and I like the form factor. I recently got notified that ChromeOS updates were EOL, so I reformatted it with PostmarketOS, an Alpine Linux derivative. Installing was easy, and I want to like it, but it almost works. It has no sound, won't play videos, and the touchscreen behavior is janky.

I have a quest to ween from the chrome browser but owning a chromebook makes it hard. I have a samsung chromebook plus and firefox detects it as a phone so the interface layout is wrong. I hear good reviews for the steam deck. Steam should go ahead and bring the Steam Book with Firefox support. I would take a look at that. I won't mind that the only think I could play is sudoku but it has to be touch screen with a stylus.

I have a Samsung Chromebook Plus (v1/kevin). I was looking for something that wouldn't be too cumbersome to carry around with my work laptop during my 1hr commute and at roughly 1cm thick and 2lbs this machine fit the bill. I swapped the OS to ArchLinux ARM and used it as a light dev environment sticking to nvim+lsp. These days I work from home and rarely use it - just for writing.

> Samsung Chromebook Plus satisfies my needs for a tablet: mainly media consumption (web browsing, YouTube, reading long articles, and watching movies). I have a Samsung Chromebook Plus, and I absolutely despise it as a tablet. Compared to my Nexus 9 (which is still kicking), it's a far inferior device. My primary uses for my tablet are watching video and reading comics. It manages to fail at both of those two things. 1. No system-wide support for red-tint (aka "night mode", Flux, Twilight, etc.)[0] 2. Buggy rotation lock - this works very inconsistently across apps. 3. Heavy (compared to keyboard-less tablets) 4. Buggy soft keyboard (sometimes the soft keyboard just straight-up doesn't work in certain apps, so I have to unfold the device from tablet mode just to use the hardware keyboard to type). I still use my Nexus 9 over the Chromebook Plus every time I can. When my Nexus 9 dies, I'll probably end up getting a Surface to replace it. [0] There is finally support for it on a per-user basis, but it took years for them to introduce this. And even now, if you close your tablet and have to unlock it again, you'll be blinded by the unlock screen.
