Instant Pot. Can be used as a rice cooker, slow cooker, pressure cooker (mostly known for this last use) Though probably not as good for rice specifically as an actual high-end rice cooker, it greatly increased the range of foods I eat. Makes it easy to make nice one pot meals overnight for multiple days, you can make really good broth soups from chickens etc quickly, or slowly if you prefer. If you like to try tougher cuts of meat, this is also a good reason to get it. The fact it doesn't occupy one burner is also helpful.

>Also that 12 minutes is not inclusive of the 10 minutes it takes to get up to pressure This is a huge downside that people always neglect to mention with instant pots. Probably not a big deal with rice, since the other methods also take ~20 minutes total, but for larger meals, that extra time is a lot more than it takes for rice, and the slow release at the end is also somewhat necessary for other foods that don't completely cook during the short time that's recommended. Things like roast and such aren't 'done' just because everything is up to a reasonable temperature, that extra cooking that's done during the slow cooling of the release helps flavors develop.

I never quite understood the hype of Instant pot. It just seemed like an Electric pressure cooker. Breville has had one since the mid 00s, and my mother had a simpler Sears branded one in the 90s. Was it bandwagon effect? It always seemed like one of those products you'd see on an infomercial. The overall build quality, particularly the front button membrane, looked extremely cheap to me, like what you'd see on random Wish.com crap.
