I've had a Dell XPS 13 9343 (2017 model, non-Developer edition) running Fedora for years without problems. I suppose you might consider it cheating because I replaced the original Broadcom WiFi card with an Intel WiFi card, as that driver was a bit flaky in the early days (whereas the Intel driver has kernel support). Other than the pitiful 4 hour battery life, the laptop still runs fine, and mostly does what I need it to do for a permanently-docked daily driver.
Neutral
Having used 2 XPS13 (9343 and 9370) as my daily driver for years, this is simply not true in my experience. On my 9343 bluetooth did not work initially, and on the 9370 the fingerprint reader is not available (no driver available), but apart from that linux is just working - and I'm not particular fond of spending time on setting things up. Much more of an issue is that the xps, as every non apple computer does not support s3 sleep anymore. So just closing the lid and putting it in a bag can lead to overheating and battery drain. Honestly I don't get, why we can't have decent power management unless you buy a mac.

I t420s fell out of my opened backpack a couple of days ago. Not the first time it fell, once I even stepped on it - but after the last drop the display has some problems and i have to push on a certain point to get it working, which made me put it to it's well deserved retirement.[*] In need of an quick alternative I bought a Dell XPS 13 9343. I like this a lot - it has a way nicer display, the form factor is just great for my needs, build quality is good and even the keyboard feels right (missing a trackpoint tho). Unfortunately it supports Microsoft's "Modern Standy", which is a fancy name for s2idle - which just doesn't work using Linux, at least I couldn't get it to work . When in s2idle it looses power and does not reliably wake up, in s3 it goes to sleep but needs a hard reset to wake up. Waiting for my t470s now, as far as I know the latest Thinkpad generation stat supports classic s3 sleep. *: Actually it lives on as a small NAS/Homeserver. It even packs three disks (M2 SSD, HDD in the HDD slot and an Ultrabay-HDD adpter).

I'm very pleased with my Dell XPS 13 [0] (the 8GB ram, non-touch screen version). They even have a developer edition [1] that comes pre-shipped with Ubuntu, with Dell sending their fixes upstream (meaning that the vanilla Ubuntu works great out-of-the-box). The one annoying downside is the camera, which they had to locate below the screen due to the uber-thin edges they have above it. [0] http://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/productdetails/xps-13-9343-la... We have a Dell XPS 13 (9343) (originally came with Windows) at work. I used Ubuntu on it and couldn't get the display set up so that menus on IDEs etc. was a readable size. Attaching an external display was a disaster. Then a colleague took it over and put Windows 10 on it. Exact same issue. Anyone else experience this?
