Brother DCP

I have a Brother DCP-9020CDW which I've owned for over a decade and which still keeps humming. A bit expensive with four toners and a drum, but that's color laser for you. I'm very happy with it, and I guess I'd be equally happy with any Brother MFC-LxxxxCDW that's one market now. If one wants an inkjet, I'd go for an Epson EcoTank.

My brother dcp-1512 laser printer/scanner is a tank and was cheaper than buying the ink for the hp inkjet it replaced. Toner costs $15 and I’ve only gone through two cartridges during the printers lifetime (6 years and counting). It works well with Linux although it has no wireless - I hooked it up to an old laptop to share the printer.

+1, brother dcp-1512 which I got because it was cheaper than buying just the black ink cartridge for the HP inkjet it replaced. It’s hooked up to an old thinkpad and set up so we can AirPrint to it from our phones. Including one toner cartridge it’s probably cost under 70 bucks for 5 years of service.

I own a Brother DCP7065DN that I bought nearly a decade ago, and it still works just fine. I've always used third party toner (there was a setting that needed to be toggled to enable this). I can even print and scan from my phone. All the cloud nonsense is there to enrich the manufacturers, it doesn't actually make these products better. KISS!

I bought a DCP-8085DN years ago and it's been zero maintenance. What you really want to consider is getting a business class printer laser printer. They're expected to handle a real load, so they last. Look at the software connectivity. I can print and scan straight from my iPhone/iPad.
