Beyer-Dynamic DT-770 Pro 80 ohm. They are very comfortable, even with glasses on, for any period of time. They are very effective at blocking outside noise, regardless of whether they're being used as headphones or earmuffs. They've lasted about three years, while all other headphones I have used didn't make it past the two year mark. I bought them for non-DJ use, but now use them for everything. DJing, Pandora, White Noise, movies, gaming (with a $7 Zalman clip-on mic), you name it. headfi.org is probably the best place for advice, if that's what you are looking for. Nothing beats trying on headphones for yourself though.

I got a set of Fairbuds XL at work because it made sense to buy something that could last a long time and be repaired and I really wanted to support Fairphone's basic premise — repairable gadgets with long support. Here's my experience with them that nobody asked for. First of all, the sound is fine. Nothing exceptional but certainly not bad. I'd say they compare pretty well to my Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro (80 Ohm) or my old Sennheiser Urbanite XL. They also sit pretty well on my head for extended periods of time, which is nice, but will obviously vary from person to person. They don't have any fancy Teams-integration, which is a plus for me but a deal-breaker to others. They hold battery very well. I haven't tested it in depth but I've used them for maybe 3 full workdays without charging them, so maybe around 24 hours of active use and they still had some juice left. But the firmware... What a disappointment. The headphones have 3 settings, ANC, ambient and "normal". I personally prefer "normal" but the headphones don't remember the setting across restarts, so every time I turn them on I have to sit through the boot sound (because system sounds can't be interrupted), wait for the audio feedback to finish saying "connected", and if a second device is connected, "second device connected", then click a physical button, wait for it to finish saying "ambient sounds", and finally click a third time to hear it say: "noise cancelling off", and _then_ I can start using them. It's OK th…

A family member is always complaining that her hearing aids are crap, noisy, harsh and yet, not allowing her to actually hear very well.. Shes had them readjusted multiple times with no improvement. I tried putting some Beyer-dynamics 990 Pro 80 Ohm on her, and then plugging that into the line-out of a hand-held zoom recorder with the sensitivity turned up. She heard _EVERYTHING_ and she told that the sound was pleasant too.. This leaves me with the impression that hearing aids are way behind off-the-shelf consumer parts.. Maybe too much sound quality (you had ONE job!) is being sacrificed for size ?

Bought two used Lego Mindstorms NXT 2.0 shortly before lockdown (by chance) and built most of the projects from http://www.nxtprograms.com/index2.html with the kids. These projects are VERY high quality and fun for kids. Unfortunately the programming interface for NXT 2.0 is crap and I must admit the NXT bricks saw little use since then. I also have two Beyerdynamic headphones: one DT 770 Pro 80 Ohms and one DT 990 32 ohms. I use them mainly for meetings (WFH). There are very comfortable and some day I wear them for almost 8 hours. They sound different from each other but both are very clear. The DT 990 is "open" which means I can still hear what is going on in the house, for the days kids are at home too.

As far as noise cancelling goes, there's really only 3 phones that are worth considering: WH-1000XM3 QC35 Bose 700 As a side note, I use a pair of beyerdynamics DT770 80 ohm headphones, and they have positively excellent isolation. With music on, I can't hear anything outside, and nobody can hear anything I'm hearing at all. Have you tried to see if closed, isolated headphones fit your use case? There's way more options in that space, so you're more likely to find something comfortable and with a sound signature you really like.
