I got an Asus UX305FA 2 years ago. It was great until some of the keys on the keyboard started to fail just outside of it's 1 year warranty. Despite having tried to reset the ribbon connector on the mobo I can't get it to work. The procedure for replacement isn't fun either. Will probably get an Thinkpad X240/X250 off work next. They can often be purchased second-hand on ebay with a few years of on-site warranty left. Upgradeable, excellent keyboards, Linux friendly, and built like tanks.

I have a UX305FA and I wouldn’t recommend it. I love the form factor and overall feel. I really like the keyboard, though I don’t care for the trackpad. My real issue with this laptop is the screen. It’s hard on my eyes to the point that I don’t use it. I’ve had the laptop for around a year now and have had at least 5 different Linux distros on it, I’ve calibrated the display, and nothing has helped. I wish I had bought a Thinkpad.

Same here, great experience with Linux on UX305FA. I switched to multi-boot setup, shrinking Windows partition and giving Ubuntu 14.04 half of the 256GB SSD. Switched window manager to i3, which is excellent, can't imagine going back to floating windows after i3. UX305FA is supposed to be a relatively slow processor, but most everything seems snappy to me, and power handling is excellent (with TLP package). Also, UX305FA is fanless. I love having no fan, hope to never again have a laptop with a fan.

Personally I use an Asus Zenbook UX305FA. Positives: * Great 1080p screen * Great form factor * No apparent incompatibilities with Linux * Keyboard is fairly good * Fast despite its fairly low-power CPU * SSD * Battery life Negatives: * Track pad isn't great * UEFI * Some small dents appeared on the body of the laptop after only a few months (never dropped it or anything) * A small bright spot has appeared on the bottom of the screen Although I have a few negatives listed I believe the positives far outweigh them. I have really enjoyed using this laptop for development. As far as development goes, I have a dual-boot of Arch Linux and Windows 10. I primarily do Go and Python in Arch, and C/C++ in Windows. I apologize in advance if the formatting of this post is messed up. First time posting on here. :)
