I think Apple Watch is a great device for wearing to gym, to sleep, and somewhat during the day + occasional quick text reply maybe, and otherwise forgetting all about it, because the true value lies in what's being collected in the Health app. Stop trying to do things on it imo. Maybe there are a couple of useful things you can do, or if you're a runner, maybe you can leave your phone at home. I don't have these use cases, but it's valuable to me even without them. My recommendation is: buy the cheapest material one every few years. I only ever had 2 and 5 (upgraded due to always on screen), and am considering to finally upgrade to 12.

> He was quizzing her at a party about what features she used - which were pretty much step counter and payment. He somewhat dismissively sneered, "Well, you're not exactly a power user, are you?" If everyone on the Pixel Watch team was like that, that could explain why they haven't found any success breaking out from the crowd. Smart watches should discreetly enhance one's life, not be a list of features to be built and used all the time. I've been an Apple Watch user since Series 5, and I mostly use the watch as a normal-ish smart watch, with silent alarms, iPhone music control, and two-finger-tap to feel the time discreetly as the "power user" features I'd use most often. I barely use any of the apps, and still have trouble navigating the grid.

I used to use the Pebble, then the AmazFit Bip (with something like 40 days battery life) after that — finally only switching to an Apple Watch when Series 5 came with an always-on display. Apart from telling time, I like how it tracks my steps and sleep, and can send music to my earphones so I don't have to bring my phone out for a run. I also like being able to use the watch as a camera viewfinder/remote. One huge plus of the Apple ecosystem is the sheer number of watch straps I get to choose from, which lets me dress up the watch if I have to. And to top it all off, I get a nice screen. I wouldn't have made the switch if the battery life was incompatible with my lifestyle, but so far, so good.

It's got to be my Apple Watch (S5). Since I bought it the gamification of closing the rings and monthly challenges has definitely improved my physical health. It also keeps sending those nudges during the day to stand or to go out and finish the rings etc. Which I feel are helpful in reminding me not to keep sitting for longer and move around. I definitely would like folks to try an Apple Watch to track and improve their fitness.

I’m currently using a Series 5 watch which has the always on screen mode. I use it to track sleep and I exercise around an hour daily and use it primarily to track water intake, track my tasks, and play music. It might be my usage, but I’ve never had the problem of it dying unexpectedly. I usually charge it when I’m taking a bath and while I’m reading a book. I’ve gone through Fitbits and other wearables which don’t need daily charging but I personally don’t have a problem with the battery.

Apple Watch Series 5 - I am exercising more than ever. Intelligent Investor - I read this book around 15 years back and I am at a better place financially, partly due to it. Road Bike - Bought one around 5 years ago. Best way for me to exercise and feel-the-wind-in-my-face. Finally, wife agreed to get one as well. Now we are riding together. Best feeling. A Home - It's a double edged sword. Spending tons of time working on lawn and garden. Great way to connect to the roots. On the flip side, it's easy to get sucked into projects and not have time to pursue side projects.

It’s very subjective, like any jewlery purchase. For instance I never liked the default band, but the Milanese loop is great. My wife never wore her series 5 but I got her a series 11 which is a few grams lighter and thinner and she wears it all the time now. I was on the fence about getting an ultra but for some reason never liked the size and shape (big rectangle with a huge crown bulge) since I have small wrists. I ended up getting a garmin epix pro at a big discount which is slightly smaller and round. At the end of the day they are great if you want to collect data on yourself. Even though my wife didn’t like her series 5 the hypertension features were worth trying a newer one.
