I definitely prefer shorter travel keys too - full size MX feels like an unnecessary workout. Though personally the mechanical ones with a bit more distance than scissor is where I think my sweet spot lies. And Mac's butterfly keyboards are way too short, they slow me down noticeably.

A keychain that acts as a coin to unlock shopping carts. A retractable USB-C to C cable for my backpack. Replacement keys for my butterfly keyboard MacBook. It’s a drop in replacement that delays a new laptop purchase. Warm wool socks and sweaters Paperlike screen protector and metal nib for my iPad mini and Apple Pencil

I actually quite like the butterfly keyboard and have never had a problem with it. I’m using a MacBook 16 inch keyboard and I’m finding I am extremely used to the butterfly style keyboard.

> Practice practice practice. > ... > Honestly best advice is just get a keyboard you're comfortable with. Exactly that. My typing improved extremely by typing a lot, although I'm not sure if it's necessary to know every single keyboard character by heart. And of course the keyboard must be comfortable. I think everybody has different preferences though. Personally I used to like ergonomic keyboards but at the moment I'm really comfortable with the Apple butterfly keyboard ;-)

You can't pretend that Apple doesn't set themselves up for the criticism. They're the largest company globally, completely control all major facets of their devices and struggle to admit to adamant and obvious design failure (eg. Butterfly Keyboard, anti-repair DRM, single-vendor App Store, browser lockdown, etc.). When Apple is wrong, fixing the problem yourself isn't always an option. Reactions like this shouldn't surprise you if you've seen what HN has to say about Meta, Microsoft and Google.
