My main gripe with this is the pretty shocking performance on old "supported" iOS devices (e.g. an iPhone SE 2). When you have too many tabs, or watch more than a couple videos it just starts freezing and will sometimes crash the phone - you get an unresponsive sideshow screen for a bit before it goes to the lock screen with fingerprint login disabled (like after a restart). I can only assume they've accidentally found a way to make webkit leak memory?

Looking at the replies to this comment, I'd not say tech enthusiasts are going to be into these foldables, only those that want something that can be an iPhone, an iPad and possibly a laptop combined into one without being good at any of them. I still stick with my iPhone SE 2 as it doesn't fall out of my pocket.

Using Airalo plus a Verizon physical sim in Europe with an iPhone SE 2 worked, and I found the cost fair enough, but it drained my battery like mad, so bad in fact that I found myself turning the eSIM off a lot. I think this is probably just Yet More Shoddy Apple Software, and I will probably use eSIM in future, but it’s something to watch out for.

You know, it's amazing how different people view iOS 18. I, and many other blind people, love iOS 18 because the system for typing in Braille, and now controlling the phone in Braille, just using the touch screen, has been majorly improved. Although, we don't have an LLM based image description feature, like Android now has in TalkBack 15. I'd love Android, but it's screen reader is so sluggish, especially when scrolling the screen where it feels like it takes half a second, that a one year old Pixel 8 is much less responsive than a 4 year old iPhone SE 2. It's a shame, but Google hasn't changed much in the last five years, and I don't see them changing much before the Pixel 8 is deprecated.
