Stadia played Cyberpunk at max settings when none of the home systems could do it. I played it on a Retina iPad, and thought it looked fantastic. I've heard people play Fortnite Festival (basically Rock Band, and very latency sensitive) over Microsoft/Amazon cloud streaming. "low bitrate and high input latency" is what you'd expect rendering offsite, but in practice, it seems to work surprisingly well.

I have probably 8 or so Amazon ereaders over the years, of different models. I also use the Apple ipad, and the pdf readers on many other devices. I've bought a couple ereaders from other companies, but they didn't "take" with me. My current favorite ereader is the retina ipad, though its battery life is short. Modern paper books have much more precise printing than books printed 20, 40, 60 years ago. I find the irregularity of the older ones rather charming, the new ones are also sterile - being too perfect. I suppose it is like my indifference to autotuned singers. Too perfect. Doesn't sound human. P.S. have you ever visited a medieval village in Europe? I find them wonderful, as there are no straight lines anywhere. It's all pleasingly crooked. I considered building my house slightly crooked, but that turned out to be far too expensive as everything would have to be custom made.

iOS 12 is way too new. I have a Retina iPad stuck on iOS 9, which is now essentially an ebook reader and movie player. I had two of them stuck on iOS 5. Perfectly working, cosmetically perfect, lots of battery life, but bricks. Whereas I have a 1st gen Pro and a 5th gen (when the stock iPad got the Air form-factor) which both run the latest iPadOS, but their battery life is now a couple of hours if that. They're nearly useless. I had a new battery fitted to the 5th gen. It is no better but now the screen is damaged with multiple artifacts visible. There is no battery replacement for the Pro: it's too big and too fragile. In other words, in important terms, the old ones were BETTER but they are now useless because of an outdated OS.

I love my iPad. I use just for reading kindle iBooks and iTunes U. I actually had to wait until the retina screen. I had a surface RT and the kindle app on there sucked plus there was no comparable iBooks and iTunes U app so I sold it. I have never used an android tablet for personal use.
