> Clearly tapping a letter “taps” a different letter My iPad Mini 6 sometimes gets into this state, especially after deleting something, when tapping one of the keys in the lower right corner becomes completely impossible, it always registers as this different key (I don't have the iPad nearby to check which one), and it stays broken like this until I press a few other keys. It's incredibly frustrating and it's been there since day 1.

I find this thread amusing. My M3 MacBook Pro just works. My family's iPhone 15s just work. My iPad Mini 6 just works. My wife's 3 year old iPad just works. Her 3 year old MacBook Air just works. My kids 3 year old M1 MacBook just works. I am an old man. My MCSE was on NT 3.51. I wrote my first code in 6502 ML. The first production network I handled used SNA. The level of Apple kit just working is a so far beyond anything I have experienced in 30+ years of being in tech.

The poster mentions issues with Notes and Freeform. I use these apps with an Ipad Mini 6, and suffer from freezes, latency, high power draw and crashes. I was previously considering getting a more powerful device like an Ipad Pro, but according to OP this won't fix it at all. Paraphrasing a redditor, the Freeform app seems to have been developed as a demo tool to use in Apple Stores. In theory, there should be some sort of paid app that uses all the incredible hardware for an actual good experience.

Yes. The mini feels like an abandoned product. In landscape mode, the keyboard takes more than half of the screen. UI elements are routinely covered up in various apps. For example, in Flighty, the flights "drawer" cannot be hidden in the way it can on the iPhone. This is probably fine in a larger iPad, but on the Mini, it covers more than half the screen, meaning it HIDES THE AIRPLANE ICON of the flight you're tracking. Apple Maps has a similar behavior with its drawer in portrait mode, but, IIRC, at least that one can be hidden. I've owned 8 or 10 tablets in my life and never gotten along with any of them. The Mini6 is my latest experiment, and it's my favorite, but I still find myself rarely using it.

What is going on with Apple's ratio on the iPads: all the original models had 4/3, then iPad Air 4 and iPad 10 got ~4.3/3, then iPad mini 6 got ~4.5/3 What could be Apple's rationale on this? why so many slightly different formats? and why those, they add black bars or crop to most normal content... pictures from the camera for example are still in 4/3 so they are cropped in Photos, videos are in 16/9 so they still have black bars, ...

That's because it isn't true, the replacement is the $599 iPad Mini 6 which is in a completely different class of tablet. Even the $300 iPad would outclass it by a mile. Mini 6 has regularly been on sale for $499 as well since it is now long in the tooth already.
